Steve O'Rourke

Steve O’Rourke is a distinguished energy executive with a rich history of leadership, including serving as President of Global Petroleum Exploration at BHP Billiton, where he managed a ~$1 billion exploration budget, and a member of the management team that oversaw the petroleum portfolio with a ~$25 billion capital budget.

His career began at Shell, where he held several key positions, including Exploration Manager in the Gulf of Mexico.

Currently, Steve contributes his expertise as an advisor and on the boards of RESPEC and Dakota Gold Corp. He holds a BSc in Geological Engineering and an honorary Doctorate of Public Service from South Dakota Mines, and completed the Wharton Advanced Management Program. Steve is also actively involved in supporting higher education and community initiatives.
